The Cliffe (Shropshire)
A lowland heath set on a sandstone ridge between Ruyton XI Towns and Nesscliffe. The heath is partly owned by Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council and Shropshire Council. It is a mixture of scrub, established trees, heather, bracken and open grassland. There is a transect here that was established in 2021 and the route is walked weekly between April and September by a team of volunteers who record all species seen.
The ridge runs north to south and gives good views eastward across the Shropshire Plan to the Wrekin and westwards to the Breidden Hills and Berwyn Mountains in Wales.
